The 9th annual Channel of the Year Awards nominees have been announced. Winners will be decided during a live vote at an awards ceremony hosted by top funny man Jack Whitehall on Saturday 28 August 2010
About the Awards
The Channel of the Year Awards were created in 2002 to recognise and reward the complexity of running a channel in an increasingly competitive and challenging environment. The awards have witnessed many changes over the years, but it's fundamental purpose has remained the same.
The winners were historically decided by the Edinburgh International Television Festival Executive committee, from a shortlist voted for by members of the public. The voting format of the awards were altered in 2009 to a live audience vote system.
The ceremony takes place at the Edinburgh International Television Festival on Saturday evening and is hosted by a high profile television personality. Russell Brand, Michael McIntyre and Lauren Laverne have hosted the awards in recent years.
