Edinburgh Television Festival Announces Advisory Committee 2004

MediaGuardian Edinburgh International Television Festival (MGEITF) has announced the Advisory Committee for the 2004 Festival. The committee will work with the 2004 Advisory Chair Murray Boland, Head of Programmes, E4 and MGEITF, on the editorial content of this year’s Festival.

Television and Young People – TVYP - has joined forces with the BBC’s Byker Grove to provide a day of workshops for young hopefuls aspiring to work in the television industry. The day will take place at Byker Grove in Newcastle – the home of one of the BBC’s longest running and most popular teen dramas – on Saturday 7 December 2002.

28% of Media Industry claims they have experienced bullying at work

MediaGuardian Edinburgh International Television Festival (MGEITF) today unveils worrying research about the problem of bullying within the media industry, with over a quarter of workers experiencing bullying at work. (22 July 2003) A survey carried out for TV Festival by YouGov reveals that 28% of the industry claims to have been bullied, including racist, sexist and homophobic bullying and abuse by senior management.

 

Rod Liddle to give Alternate MacTaggart Lecture 2003

Controversial writer and broadcaster Rod Liddle is to deliver the 2003 MediaGuardian Edinburgh International Television Festival Alternative MacTaggart (Alt.Mac) Lecture. Rod Liddle will talk about political correctness in television, the level of regulation and the make-up of the industry. He may also touch upon the last twelve months of his career, which saw him leave his job as editor BBC Radio 4’s Today Programme.
